No fewer than 205 chairs, musical instruments and other equipment worth millions of naira were reported stolen by hoodlums in Katsina State amid the ongoing nationwide protest against hardship.
It was gathered that the hoodlums targeted a Living Faith Church in the Daura Local Government Area, looting the items mentioned.
Pastor David Sarki of the church told journalists in Katsina on Sunday that the service had to be canceled due to the incident.
He explained, “The hoodlums took everything from the church, forcing us to hold worship at our home cells instead.
“We have two security personnel; one was on duty while the other was off. When the protest began around 10:00 am, the hoodlums, many arriving in tricycles, broke the church’s doors and windows to gain access.
“They stole everything from the church auditorium, including the wall clock, musical instruments, pulpit, pastor’s chairs, plastic chairs, a desktop computer from the reception, and a scoreboard used for storing church documents. They left the place in disarray.
“They targeted three churches: Living Faith, Deeper Life, and the Anglican Church. They successfully invaded the first two but couldn’t access the Anglican Church due to its strong security.”
He continued, “We have notified the police and army, and the police informed us that some arrests have been made.
“I am shocked by this attack. As we protest against bad governance, it is unacceptable that it has escalated to attacks on churches. This is a place of worship, not a storage for goods. The government needs to recognize its responsibility to the people. I urge the perpetrators to repent, as entering a church is a grave wrongdoing. God is forgiving, and I pray they seek forgiveness.”
