How 5 Nigerian Navy Officers narrowly escaped death as gunboat capsizes in Opobo [VIDEO]

Barely 48 hours after a Nigerian Airforce helicopter crashed landed in Abuja killing all crew on board, another military tragedy was averted in Opobo, Rivers State, on Monday.

A Nigerian Navy jubilee gunboat with visual call sign JEF 5 on routine patrol along Opobo waterways capsized with 5 crewmen aboard.

However, the 5 officers escaped unscathed.

According to online reports, investigation has revealed that the boat mishap was caused by a fire.

Meanwhile, IDOMA VOICE reports that Nigeria Airforce had said the ill-fated plane that crashed shortly after take-off from Abuja airport, killing everyone on board, was on a mission to rescue the abducted students and staff of the Government Science School in Kagara, Niger state reportedly abducted by bandits.
