Facts have emerged on the circumstances that led to the emergence of Ifeanyi Okowa as the running mate to the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar.
It was gathered that Atiku shunned the popular views of PDP elders to pick Wike as his running mate.
This was made known by the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom.
Ortom told Arise TV that 14 out of 17 PDP members said Atiku should pick Wike as his running mate but he shunned them and settled for Okowa, a development the governor believes has torn the party apart.
“I expected him (Atiku) to reach out to Wike, who came second and denied him the popular views of PDP members; 14 out of 17, who said that Wike should be his VP but he in his wisdom picked Okowa.
“I have no problem with Okowa, he’s my friend but I believe Atiku should reach out to Wike.”
