In an era marked by enhanced global connectivity, Canada has broadened its policy on visa-free air travel and the Can+ Visa Programme, impacting Caribbean nations offering Citizenship-by-Investment (CBI) programs.
By dismantling barriers, Canada has widened its gates, encouraging citizens of these nations to explore its landscapes, vibrant cities, and diverse cultural offerings. The expanded visa-free air travel policy unlocks exciting business prospects for entrepreneurs, investors, and professionals, facilitating trade and investment and fostering dynamic collaborations that drive bilateral economic growth.
“Canada is a highly sought-after destination for Nigerians, whether for study, business, or leisure. This enhances the Citizenship-by-Investment programs of Antigua and Barbuda, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, Dominica, and Grenada in Nigeria. Securing any of these Citizenship-by-Investment programs streamlines and expedites the process for thousands of Nigerians,” noted Zuberu Kadiri, Country Manager, RIF Trust Nigeria.
He added, “With the introduction of the Can+ visa program for citizens of Dominica and Grenada, Nigerians with this passport can now expedite the processing of the visitor visa, available for short-term stays in Canada.”
Citizenship-by-Investment and Residency-by-Investment programs have become popular options and “Plan Bs” for Nigerians and their families, according to RIF Trust. The Canada visa-free air travel and Can+ visa policies for Caribbean CBI countries are viewed as a significant step in expanding Nigerians’ options for global opportunities.
Canada also announced the eligibility of Dominica and Grenada citizens for the Can+ Visa program, expediting the visitor visa application process for short-term stays in Canada. Instead of the typical 14-21-day waiting period, it now takes a maximum of five days. To qualify, individuals need to have held a Canadian visa in the past 10 years or possess a valid US visa.
Nigerians holding a second passport from Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Kitts and Nevis, or St Lucia now enjoy visa-free air travel to Canada via an eTA. However, when traveling as citizens of these countries, one must have held a Canadian visa within the past 10 years or possess a valid United States non-immigrant visa to qualify.

This offers the opportunity to obtain second citizenship in Caribbean nations like Antigua and Barbuda, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, Dominica, and Grenada.
