Roma manager, Jose Mourinho, recently opened up about the challenging period that former Ivorian striker, Didier Drogba, faced when he initially joined Chelsea.
According to the seasoned Portuguese tactician, Drogba encountered difficulties in finding his stride when he made the move from French Ligue 1 side, Marseille, to Chelsea in June 2004. Mourinho revealed that during the early days, Drogba struggled to score goals and lead the attack effectively.
However, Mourinho acknowledged that he was fortunate to witness Drogba’s transformation, as the striker later evolved into a renowned goal poacher, contributing significantly to the team’s success. Together, they secured three Premier League titles during their time at Chelsea.
On his Instagram page, Mourinho paid tribute to Drogba, emphasizing the significant impact the Ivorian had on his coaching career. He described Drogba as one of his all-time favorite players and a cherished member of his coaching “gang.”
