How Fani Kayode’s close aide, Mark Ndifereke died

Former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has announced the sudden passing of his close aide, Mark Ndifreke, who died on October 13, 2024.

Fani-Kayode shared the news in a message to Vanguard late Sunday night, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of Mr. Mark, who had worked with him for nearly three decades. “Mark was like a son to me,” he said. “His death is a huge blow.”

“It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my devoted Special Assistant, Mr. Ndifreke Saviour Mark, who was with me for no less than 34 years,” Fani-Kayode added.

Fani-Kayode explained that Mark, a devout Catholic and a member of the Church of Assumption in Asokoro, left home early on the morning of October 13 to attend Mass. Afterward, he went to Mildy Lodge and Apartments in Garki, Abuja, where he booked a room and spent time with another individual. He reportedly collapsed and died in the presence of this person.

Mark was rushed to Asokoro District Hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival. His body was later placed in the hospital morgue.

The individual who was with Mark at the time of his death has been taken into police custody. Fani-Kayode insisted on a thorough criminal investigation and an autopsy. The hotel receptionist was also detained, while the hotel manager and owner were invited for questioning. The hotel itself was sealed off for two days, and the room Mark had booked remains sealed.

Fani-Kayode stated that he has informed Mark’s family of the tragic news, meeting with his wife, Barrister Patience Ndifreke-Mark, and his uncle, Mr. Clement Mathias. He assured them that if foul play is found, justice will be served, and those responsible will be held accountable.
