Chief Press Secretary to the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, Mr. Terver Akase has stated that God saw the invasion of the Benue Valley and adequately prepared his principal to face the challenge.
He spoke yesterday during a town hall meeting with youth and other supporters of the All Progressives Congress, APC at Yagba, North Bank area of Makurdi LGA.
Mr. Akase said Ortom’s emergence as Governor from MINDA area was divine, stressing that if not for his firm stance against the invasion of Benue by militia herdsmen, the state would have been overrun.
He said Governor Ortom had directed all ministries, departments and agencies of government to always submit payment vouchers to appropriate authorities on or before the 21st of every month to guarantee prompt payment of salaries.
He said the Governor has kept his promise to ensure regular payment of workers since the year began and would not renege on the commitment.
The Chief Press Secretary stated that the State Government was sourcing funds to clear the backlog of salaries, commending the workers for their understanding and co-operation.
On his part, Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Mr. Matthew Mnyam acknowledged the tremendous support of Mr. Akase to the administration of Governor Ortom, describing him as a dependable and trustworthy aide.
Mr. Mnyam said the Governor had written his name in gold in the minds of Benue people and Nigerians in general on the issue of the Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law, noting that generations yet unborn would celebrate him for the feat.
In a remark, youth leader in the area, Mr. Raymond Asema, popularly known as Nago, lauded the commitment and hardwork of Mr. Akase, saying the youth were proud of him.
Mr. Nago while appealing to the Governor through his Chief Press Secretary for provision of potable water and improved electricity supply in the area, also pledged the overwhelming support of Ihyarev people to the reelection of Governor Ortom in 2019.
Other speakers at the event also commended Mr Terver Akase for identifying youths as vital section of the society and for taking image-making to another level.
