How gunmen killed Olukoro of Koro, kidnap wife, two others

Unidentified gunmen invaded Koro community in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, resulting in the death of the community’s monarch, General Segun Aremu (rtd), known as the Olukoro of Koro. The assailants also abducted the monarch’s wife and two others.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has condemned the brutal killing of the Olukoro of Koro, describing it as reckless and abominable. In a statement, he urged security agencies to deploy all necessary resources to track down the perpetrators, rescue the abducted individuals, and ensure that the criminals face justice.

“We will certainly get the perpetrators and ensure that this is their last crime against humanity,” Governor AbdulRazaq asserted. He expressed his heartfelt condolences to the people of Koro, emphasizing solidarity with them during this difficult time.

The state police command in Ilorin confirmed the incident, stating that an investigation is underway. Police operatives have initiated a search and rescue operation for the abducted victims. The Divisional Police Officer responsible for the area has been deployed to the late monarch’s palace.

Koro community, situated in Kwara State, shares borders with Irele/Oke, Ako/Ipao/Oke Aiyedun, and Ikole in Ekiti State.
