How I lost election for refusing to buy guns for cultists – Hon. Chief Oge Ali

A former House of Representative member, Hon. Chief Peter Oge Ali, who represented Ohaukwu/ Ebonyi Federal constituency, Monday said he lost the 2015 election for refusing to purchase guns for cult members.

Oge Ali made this known while addressing newsmen at his residence located along Onwe road, Abakaliki, capital of Ebonyi State.

He warned aspirants in the 2019 general elections to desist from sponsoring cult groups to terrorise innocent citizens of the state.

The former lawmaker said, “People who are in cult many years ago are now suffering. These small boys that are in cult today in Ohaukwu LGA are there for fear of being killed. And before they know it, they themselves will start killing others. I tell you, any person that sheds blood, the family will suffer it.

“Some of us who are contesting election, if a drop of human blood will make me to win election, it is better that such election is put behind me. I will never be part of it. As a matter of fact, when things were going anyhow in 2015, people said that why I lost election then was because I failed to purchase guns.

“I remembered that someone met me and asked me to buy guns for boys. I told him that I can’t do that. I was told later that someone else who was interested more than me purchased it and later won the election.”

Oge Ali, who is the House of Representative candidate on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, said he was in the race to enable him develop his constituency.

He added, “Being in the National Assembly, especially in the House of Representatives is like someone attending primary school. For three years, you will not know what is happening and before you know it, election will come. And so, there is no difference like someone in primary school.

“As old as I am now, if I reach the National Assembly, I will be like a small boy. Even those in the Senate are like vegetables,” he added.
