The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Ijanikin Police Station, Lagos State Police Command, CSP Bolaji Olugbenga, has reportedly passed away.
IDOMA VOICE gathered that Olugbenga collapsed in his office on Thursday night and died before he could be taken to a hospital.
A police officer from the division, speaking anonymously to Daily Trust, revealed that the officers at the station are in mourning following the tragic news. The officer confirmed that Olugbenga’s body has since been moved to a mortuary.
“He collapsed in the office on Thursday and was quickly rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately, we lost him,” the officer stated.
As of the time of this report, the state police command has not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident.
In a related matter, the Kano State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has arrested 31-year-old Salisu Bala for engaging in extortion and posing as a police officer.
According to SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, spokesperson for the Kano Police Command, Bala was apprehended while impersonating a police officer in Kurna Quarters, within the Kano metropolis.
He was tracked down by members of the Police Special Constabulary in Koki Quarters, where he was seen wearing a black uniform and a camouflage peak cap.
Reports indicate that Bala defrauded unsuspecting citizens, damaging the reputation of the police force in the process.
