How my mum almost stopped me from playing football – Chukwueze

AC Milan’s talented winger, Samuel Chukwueze, has opened up about the hurdles he faced in pursuing his football career, revealing that his mother initially did not support his aspirations on the field. The 24-year-old player disclosed that his mother was keen on him focusing solely on his academics, and at one point, she even resorted to burning his football boots in a bid to dissuade him from pursuing football.

Chukwueze recounted the challenges he encountered in Africa while trying to develop his football talent. In a region where footballing opportunities can be scarce, his determination and unwavering faith in God’s plan played a crucial role in shaping his path to success.

Recalling the early stages of his football journey, Chukwueze shared the significant role his mother played in his life. She strongly believed that education should be his primary focus, as is the case with many African mothers. However, destiny had other plans for the young footballer.

Despite the obstacles and initial resistance, Chukwueze remained steadfast in his pursuit of his football dreams. He acknowledged the difficulty he faced in convincing his mother to embrace his passion for the sport. However, as time passed and his talent blossomed, her perspective changed.

With hard work and God’s grace, Chukwueze’s dedication to the sport bore fruit, and his mother eventually came to believe in the power of football to shape her son’s future. Today, Chukwueze is a prominent figure in the world of football, and his journey serves as an inspiring testament to the perseverance and commitment required to achieve greatness.

The AC Milan star’s story resonates with many aspiring athletes who encounter resistance on their path to success. Chukwueze’s journey is a reminder that determination, faith, and unwavering belief in one’s abilities can overcome obstacles and lead to the realization of one’s dreams.
