Development appropriate road infrastructure and youths empowerment is two of the pillars of the new Sheriff in town, the Chief Executive Officer of G12 Foundation, Mr. Joseph Gordon Oche’s agenda. The road made up of bridges was identified as one of the triggers that would grow and ease movements, access and better the living standard of the people and the Ugboju communities.
Oche G12, set up guidelines, target and milestones for a few years development agenda, which is predicated on an efficient and prudent management of his personal resources to free up more funds for infrastructure and other basic development projects.
To achieve immediate impact and also alleviate the sorrows of road users across the Ugboju communities the new generation philanthropist identified key roads for immediate attention as constituency priority. These are Ifete-Ofiloko community road; construction and enlargement of the road that links Ofiloko and Onyagede community of Ohimini LGA rehabilitation and expansion of other roads. To connect the two local government council, the young lad (G12) decided to embark on some critical projects in the area of Ugboju and Onyagede and promised to standardize the roads.
According to the contractor, Engr. Felix, the God sent (G12) did strategic thinking to know the characteristics of projects before embarking on them. “we had to determine which of the projects were on community road network.
“We have the road map and we brought the map, spread it on the table and indicated on the map with markers our roads that was ongoing.
“At the end of the exercise, we had about 2 of them on the Ifete-Ofiloko communities. So we decided to prioritise and focus on those two that would meaningfully impact on economic activities in our communities.” Engr. Felix said.
The road construction expert (Felix) went further to say that the young lad understands the necessity for good roads.
He said, “Oche G12 understands and appreciate the connection between good road network and economic growth in any nation.
“He understands the connection between wealth creation and good road network.” He added.
The plans for the numerous and huge projects were approved some days into 2020 – but have attracted criticism.
The huge projects includes electricity transformers to be and was donated to Ogobia in Ugboju and Uga in Adoka all of Otukpo LGA of Benue State…but NONE will be classed as not worth millions cash.
Nearly 5000 inhabitants will be beneficiaries in the Foundation (G12) after the installation and electrification project were completed soon. But the Foundation has been slammed and criticised by local and not social media handlers placing it as been done out of purported attempt to divert it.
The new foundation sees three categories of beneficiaries – some physically challenged, the other less privileged and communities suffering from power outage – within Otukpo and Ohimini LGAs.
Many said the new project – which will also see the building of schools and creation of other basic and social amenities – would be a ‘pioneering’ foundation in an unloved corner of the communities within the above mentioned local government councils.
The Foundation have invested in some millions of naira to help in sponsoring students in schools both home and abroad.
The Foundation is ‘capable’ of providing affordable fees for many students. However, G12 agreed that those areas that was ‘badly in need of basic amenities will soon be taking care of in the shortest time to come.
