The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the 2023 Lagos governorship election, Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has attributed his loss to the influence of Peter Obi.

Speaking on Politics Today on Channels Television on Tuesday, Jandor claimed his campaign had gained significant momentum before the February 25, 2023, elections but was disrupted by an unexpected shift in voter dynamics.

“We did everything, but that wave came and swallowed the whole thing. Nobody saw that coming,” he said.

When asked if he would have won without Obi’s influence in the presidential election, Jandor responded, “Absolutely, I probably would have won the election.”

According to results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu secured 762,134 votes to win re-election. Labour Party’s Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour polled 312,329 votes, while Jandor finished with 62,449 votes.

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC):

  • APC’s Babajide Sanwo-Olu – 762,134 votes (Winner)
  • LP’s Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour – 312,329 votes
