Dr Yahuza Ahmed Getso, a resource person at the meeting organized by the Coalition for Northern Groups (CNG) in Kaduna state disclosed how dignitaries escaped death from Arewa House Kaduna today.
When interviewed by BBC Hausa, Dr Ahmed said when the thugs descended on the distinguished dignitaries in the course of the meeting, windows at the auditorium were broken and emergency doors were created for the dignitaries to escape easily.
The meeting had in attendance religious leaders, traditional rulers, security agents and human right activists from the 19 northern States, who gathered to discuss the lingering security problem in the Northern part of the country, so as to proffer lasting solutions.
He said the thugs who are mostly youths invaded the Arewa House Kaduna when the meeting was about to start. They were holding dangerous weapons including wielding sticks, swords and others weapons. On arrival at the venue, they started breaking Windows where they were holding the meeting.
He said, “They started hitting at the people, important dignitaries started fleeing through the windows.”
Also when the BBC Hausa further asked if the CNG received approval from the state government before holding the meeting, he explained that police and SSS representatives were there. If they’ve not received approval, these security will not be there to witness the attack.
Dr Betso expressed that there was no chance to ask the thugs who sent them because the came in a violent manner smashing some vehicles.
“But when some brave ones amongst us dared them and confronted them, they ran away and crossed over the main road” he disclosed.
He therefore thank God because the person who insinuated the attack was arrested and handed over to police for further investigation.
The Doctor said what happened is a surprise but rather it serves as a call for them do more for northern states especially in terms of security.
