How residents, vigilante group clash in Otukpo (Photos)

A group of vigilante members stationed at Ija park Otukpo on Wednesday November 14th, 2018 reportedly brutalized one Hon. Innocent Umoru, a former Otukpo Township ward 3 councillorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

An eye witness disclosed that “Arrow Baga, the leader of the vigilante group and his members on Wednesday at about 11pm invaded Hon Innocent elder brother’s compound and started attacking the Honourable and his wife who were there and the elder brother’s household in the process.

“After badly injuring him, his wife and his elder brother’s wife, the went ahead to smash and vandalise Hon Simple’s car which was parked outside.
His leg and hand broken and taken to an unknown destination.

“He was later rescued by a good Samaritan Hon Akpe at midnight around Otukpo main market roundabout. Hon Akpe on sighting them manhandling him screamed which attracted people. At this point the dumped him there and left. With the assistance of people who came out, he was taking to Otukpo police station, after which he was moved to Royal specialist hospital Otukpo.

“He has since been referred to Jos University Teaching Hospital where Doctors are battling with his life.
The youths on hearing the incidence rose in their large number the next day in the morning and went in search of Arrow Baga and his group who were arrested and handed over to the police while demanding for justice to be done.

“The youths again took to the Federal Highway stopping vehicular movement for several hours before the intervention of The Area Commander and Divisional police officer who came and calmed the youths promising them that justice must be served in the matter.” He added.

However, at the time of this report, all efforts to reach the members of the vigilante group proof abortive.
