How to secure admission into the university without jamb

Direct Entry offers a direct pathway for candidates with advanced qualifications, such as National Diploma (ND), National Certificate of Education (NCE), or Higher National Diploma (HND). These candidates can apply for admission into the second or third year of a degree program, bypassing the JAMB UTME.

National Open University of Nigeria is a distance learning institution that provides opportunities for students to earn accredited degrees without the need for JAMB. Aspiring students can apply directly to NOUN’s various programs. Some universities accept international examination results, such as Cambridge A-Level, International Baccalaureate (IB), or SAT scores. Students can explore universities that recognize these qualifications for admission.

Many universities offer pre-degree or foundation programs that prepare students academically before gaining admission into degree programs. These programs may not require JAMB scores.

Students who have completed a year or more of study at one university may explore the option of transferring to another university. Some institutions accept transfer students without demanding JAMB scores.

Some universities have affiliate colleges that offer diploma or certificate programs. Upon completion, students can seek admission to the parent university without necessarily taking the JAMB examination.

“A few universities have mature age entry schemes for candidates who are above a certain age (usually 25 years or older). These candidates may gain admission based on their work experience and academic qualifications”. Some universities conduct their screening exercises to assess candidates’ academic performance and suitability for admission. JAMB scores might not be the sole criterion in these cases.

Certain universities offer certificate programs that serve as a pathway to degree programs. Upon successful completion, students can transition into a degree course without relying on JAMB. Institutes that offer career-oriented programs, such as technical schools or vocational training centers, might provide avenues for students to build skills and expertise in specific fields without needing JAMB scores.

It is essential for aspiring students to research each university’s admission requirements and available options. While JAMB remains a popular route to university admission, these alternative pathways offer a wealth of possibilities for determined students seeking to secure their future in higher education.
