Veteran Nigerian journalist Jacob Zango has passed away in Kaduna State after a brief illness.
The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kaduna State Chapter, announced his death in a statement signed by Secretary Okpani Jacob Onjewu Dickson. Zango died on Wednesday.
SWAN’s Kaduna Chairman, Shehu Abdullahi, expressed deep sorrow over Zango’s loss, noting that his extensive experience was greatly valued by the organization. SWAN extended its condolences to Zango’s immediate family, KSMC, the Atyap community, the Kaduna State Government, and all his friends and colleagues.
The statement read, “On behalf of all our members and SWAN President, Isaiah Kemje Benjamin, who is also from our state, we express our sadness at the passing of one of our veterans. While I was a staff member of Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC), where he worked until his untimely death, we were not only colleagues but like brothers.”
“We pray that the Almighty God grants his gentle soul eternal rest,” the statement concluded.
