I almost lost my life – Kiddwaya

Kiddwaya, the third contestant evicted from the Big Brother Naija All Stars reality show, has shared a harrowing incident from his past when he came close to losing his life due to a misdiagnosis and the subsequent administration of incorrect medication.

The incident occurred in 2020, shortly after Kiddwaya’s participation in the Big Brother Naija ‘Lockdown’ season. He revealed that he had been battling anxiety attacks during that period. Unfortunately, he was misdiagnosed and prescribed high blood pressure medication for three months.

In a recent conversation with media personality Hero Daniels, Kiddwaya explained, “Around eight weeks after the [BBNaija Lockdown] show, I was feeling fine until one day when I got up from my bed to go to the bathroom, and suddenly my legs started trembling.”

He went on to describe the situation, “This happened during the COVID-19 pandemic. I initially suspected it might be related to COVID. My legs were trembling, and I experienced difficulty swallowing, even though I could drink water. My vision became blurry, and I started to panic. I contacted my doctor, and she measured my blood pressure, which was extremely high at 180.”

Assuming it was COVID-related, Kiddwaya continued, “I believed it was COVID since it was the major concern in 2020. The doctors confirmed that my blood pressure was alarmingly high but couldn’t pinpoint the exact cause. They prescribed high blood pressure medication for me, which turned out to be a mistake. My condition could have been fatal because what I was actually experiencing was an anxiety attack, which causes a temporary spike in blood pressure followed by normalization.”

He elaborated, “The medication they gave me was meant to lower blood pressure, but since I didn’t need it, it disrupted my blood circulation. I took the medication for three months, even though it wasn’t appropriate for my condition. This could have led to severe consequences.”

Kiddwaya also shared that his doctor in London later clarified that he had been dealing with an anxiety attack and assured him that it wasn’t a cause for significant concern.
