Benue state governor, Samuel Ortom, has advised those planning to separate him from Senator George Akume not to waste their time
as the former governor would continue to be his leader and father.
Ortom who stated this while laying the foundation of Josanna College of Education, Agasha, in Guma local government area of the state yesterday, maintained that he would continue to follow Akume’s lifestyle of selflessness.
The governor said he may not satisfy the senator in everything that he does but through tolerance, adjustments could be made.
He said both of them have been playing complimentary roles and noted that he, Ortom, would always respect Akume as his father and leader.
Governor Ortom said he would not form any group different from the one the senator has, adding that Benue would continue to remain his constituency while APC and Abba Yaro remain his party and party chairman respectively.
He appreciated Akume for gracing the occasion and consolidating the relationship between Mbakor and Nongov people and stressed that the college of education being established by Rev Father Innocent Jooji, would go along way in reducing unemployment and remoulding the youths.
While assuring that the state government would support the newly established institution, Governor Ortom thanked Senator Ehige Uzamere who moved motion for him to take a bow during his ministerial screening for gracing the event.
Earlier, the Senator representing Benue North-West in the National Assembly and former governor of the state, Mr George Akume, had stated that the people of the state did not make mistake in zoning the governorship position to MINDA because Governor Samuel Ortom has done well.
He said God who helped Rev Fr Innocent Jooji who has been a priest for 30 years to establish the college, would also help Governor Ortom who has been administering affairs of the state with the fear of God to succeed.
Highlight of the occasion was the symbolic agreement reached between Nongov and Mbakor people who had conflicts in the past.
