I became a ‘gold digger’ after betrayal from my ex – Sarah Martins

Nollywood actress Sarah Martins has shared her painful experience of giving half of her salary to an ex-boyfriend who was unfaithful to her.

While reacting to a video from celebrity designer Veekee James, who also recounted the betrayal of an unfaithful ex, Sarah took to Instagram to reflect on her own past relationship. She explained how independent women often endure a lot in their relationships, leading some, including herself, to adopt a “gold digger” mentality.

The actress stated that while supporting a partner is fine, it should come after the man has already supported her. She recalled how, in the past, she gave her ex-boyfriend 50% of her monthly salary for six months, only to later discover that he was using the money to support another woman. Sarah revealed that her ex even funded the other woman’s business with her hard-earned money, and after the business was set up, the woman ended up marrying someone else.

In her post, Sarah wrote: “After listening to Veekee James’ experience in her former relationship, all I can say is stop overplaying your role in a relationship. If we were to speak on what independent women go through in relationships, you would understand why many of us, myself included, have become gold diggers. It’s okay to support your man, but he must have already supported you to a level where you’re comfortable reciprocating his support when he’s in need.”

She continued, “There was a time I gave my ex 50% of my monthly salary for six months, and that fool used the money to support another woman. He even funded her business with my hard work, and she ended up marrying someone else months after he helped her set up. I’m a lover girl, and I go hard for the people I love, but after the betrayal I faced because of my kind heart, I no longer give anything to men! With my full chest, I AM CURRENTLY A GOLD DIGGER!”

Sarah ended by emphasizing, “I will support my man in every way I can, but he must have already supported me enough that I feel justified in giving back to him in his time of need.”
