‘I can’t be forced to retire from football’ – Onome Ebi

Super Falcons captain, Onome Ebi, has affirmed that no one can compel her into retirement, emphasizing that she will hang up her boots when she believes the time is right.

Despite increasing suggestions for the 40-year-old to conclude her professional football career, the former player for Bayelsa Queens, Omidiran Babes, and FC Minsk recently inked a deal with Nigeria Women’s Football League’s Naija Ratel as a free agent.

Ebi notably played a vital role in the Super Falcons’ participation in this year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup held in Australia and New Zealand. This marked her sixth appearance at the World Cup, having made her debut in 2003.

“When I’m done I would make that decision myself, nobody is going to talk me into retirement or make me stop playing,” Ebi said on Brila FM.
