Nigerian Grammy-winning artist, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has opened up about the crucial role played by the late Indian rapper, Sidhu Moose Wala, in rejuvenating his creative spirit during a period of artistic fatigue.
Burna Boy revealed that Sidhu Moose Wala served as a profound source of inspiration when he was feeling “musically exhausted.” He shared that they were collaborating on a joint project before the tragic assassination of Sidhu Moose Wala in May 2022.
During a recent interview with BBC Radio 1Xtra in London, United Kingdom, Burna Boy expressed his admiration for the late rapper, stating, “He [Sidhu Moose Wala] was one of the biggest inspirations I had at a time when I felt like I’d already explored all musical avenues. I felt like I had mentally exhausted myself musically because I was listening to everything, and nothing was resonating with me.”
Burna Boy went on to highlight the profound impact Sidhu Moose Wala had on his musicality, emphasizing the legendary status of the late artist in Punjab, saying, “I felt like I’d already addressed everything in my songs. But Sidhu brought a fresh perspective to my musical journey. He is a legend—Punjab’s legend. There will never be another like him.”
