‘I feel blessed but sad’ — 2Baba talks about life with 8 children
Nigerian music legend Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has revealed that balancing his successful music career with family life has been one of the most demanding aspects of his journey.
The veteran singer made the disclosure in an interview with the Voice of Nigeria, where he reflected on the pressures of stardom and his role as a father.
According to 2Baba, while he feels grateful for his eight children, he is often troubled by the limited time he has been able to spend with them.
He said, “I have eight kids now. I feel blessed and happy, but the sadness comes from the fact that I haven’t gotten to spend the type of time I should have spent with them collectively. It does something to me sometimes.
“They’re amazing, brilliant people. I just wish I was there more. It touches me from all corners.”
The music star also addressed public perceptions about his personal life, rejecting claims that he is a womaniser. He described himself instead as someone who loves deeply.
He stated, “The biggest misconception about me is that I’m a womanizer. I like women; I’m just straightforward. But I’m a lover boy. I love hard.”
2Baba also reacted to comments about his wife, Natasha, especially opinions suggesting that she controls his decisions or dominates their relationship. He maintained that such views are largely inaccurate.
Speaking on the issue, he said, “Everybody has a say in everybody’s business now. Sometimes people say very nasty things.
“You grow thick skin, but sometimes it gets to you. Reality is reality, she’s a brilliant woman, a strong woman.”
In addition, the award-winning singer shared a lesser-known side of his personality, revealing that he is naturally reserved despite his global fame and stage confidence.
He added, “My profession doesn’t permit me to be shy, but I’m actually a very shy person.
“Sometimes I just want to be alone and chill. Other times I want to hang out. I like nature; I have my moments.”
2Baba’s comments offer a rare glimpse into the emotional challenges he faces as he navigates fatherhood, public scrutiny, and life in the spotlight.
