“I knew from the beginning, it won’t be easy” – Erin Ten Hag

Erin Ten Hag said he knew the Premier League won’t be easy after his side lost at the Old Trafford to Brighton Hovers by 2-1.

Manchester United were outclassed by Graham Potter’s men. A first half brace by German Pascal Gross stunned the home support into silence and give the Seagulls the lead going into the break.

Ronaldo who watched the first half from the bench, was summoned upon. The five-time ballon d’Or winner introduction galvanised the hosts in their attack, and with 20minutes of action left to play, Alexis Mac Allister got an unfortunate last touch, to put the ball in his own net.

Manchester United pushed for the equaliser but Brighton were resilient. 2-1 it ended.

Asked to sum up his first game in charge as a Manchester United coach, the former Ajax Amsterdam coach said ; “Brighton are a decent team, all the compliments, but I look to my team and we should not give two easy goals away.

“Of course, definitely a set back, a real disappointment and we have to deal with it. It’s also gone already.

“I knew from the start it sill not be easy and it’s a process, it takes time but we don’t have time. We have to win games. We should have done better.

“It is clear to see the second half we were better in midfield with Eriksen down and Ronaldo up. We created and Rashford had two good chances, it is a shame we did not score.” He said.
