Nollywood actress and filmmaker Mercy Aigbe Adeoti has opened up about her love for marriage and companionship.
In a recent interview with her colleague, Bimpe Akintunde, Aigbe admitted she never imagined becoming a second wife. Addressing criticism over her marriage to Kazim Adeoti, she questioned whether her detractors were truly fulfilled in their own lives.
She also revealed that some family members opposed her decision to remarry due to her age, but she remained resolute in pursuing what she truly wanted.
Expressing her views, Aigbe emphasized that public scrutiny often targets those who are successful or in the spotlight.
“I love love, actually. People, including family members, have asked me why I chose to remarry at almost 50. But I believe everyone knows what they want.
“What you desire might be different from mine. I know what I saw and what I wanted. I’m someone who loves to have a crown (husband) on my head and be married.
“Maybe if I had stayed with my baby’s father, I wouldn’t have been known as Mercy Aigbe. People will always talk when you do something remarkable. If you’re not known, you won’t be a topic. When I was young, I never imagined my life would turn out this way,” she said.
