Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has reiterated the commitment of his administration to fishing out the wanted militia kingpin, Terwase Akwaza, popularly known as “Ghana.”
Ortom told newsmen in Makurdi on Tuesday that the joint security forces trailing Ghana were already closing in on him, but were being careful not to hurt innocent citizens.
He said: “There is nothing special about him (Ghana). We are going to get Ghana soon, it is just that we don’t want casualties involved in the process of tracking him down.”
The governor added that if there were any need to freeze Ghana’s bank account, the state security council would take the decision by the time it holds its next meeting, adding that he was never distracted by the Ghana drama.
Three days ago, Ortom told a church congregation that security agencies hunting for the notorious gang leader have arrested five members of his gang with eight pump-action shotguns and one beretta pistol.
The joint security operatives had began the trail of the former repentant militia kingpin since few weeks ago on allegations of kidnapping, cattle rustling and assassination of people among others.
