I won’t stop dancing, it never affects my work – Adeleke

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has restated his unwavering passion for dancing, stressing that his favourite pastime has no bearing on his competence or dedication to leading the state.

Adeleke, widely known as “the dancing governor,” has frequently faced criticism from political rivals who argue that his energetic dance moves reflect a lack of focus and seriousness.

However, during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, the governor dismissed such objections, insisting that dancing is his personal way of worshipping God and unwinding.

“I will keep dancing because I love to dance and praise my God. It doesn’t change anything. Everyone has their way of relaxing. My hobby is to dance, and it does not affect my work,” he said.

Adeleke, who on Wednesday announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Accord Party, is now the party’s governorship candidate for the August 8, 2026 election.

He explained that the decision was driven by his commitment to preserving his administration’s people-oriented programmes and guaranteeing continuity.

“To ensure continuity and the long-term sustainability of our people-centered governance agenda beyond 2026, we have taken the bold step of moving to the Accord Party,” Adeleke said.
