Ibadan-based skit-Maker, Trinityguy released on bail from detention

Abdullahi Mahruf, popularly known as Trinityguy, an Ibadan-based skit-maker, has been released on bail from detention at the Agodi correctional centre. The release came on Friday evening after Trinityguy met the bail conditions set for his release.

The news of his release was confirmed in a verified Facebook post by his colleague, Abdul Gafar Ahmad Oluwatoyin, also known as Lawyer Kunle. He expressed his well-wishes for Trinityguy, hoping that Almighty Allah guides him on the right path. The post also highlighted Trinityguy’s fervent prayers for vindication, evident from a black spot on his forehead in his new pictures.

Trinityguy’s legal situation arose from a viral prank video involving a minor, which led to trouble with the authorities. The video raised concerns about the sexualization of the young girl featured in it, prompting an invitation from the Oyo State Police Command for interrogation. Subsequently, he was charged to court for conspiracy and sexual abuse/exploitation along with the victim’s parents, Ahmed and Rofiat. The case is currently receiving attention from the state Ministry of Justice.

Magistrate P.O Adetuyibi, overseeing the case, expressed that the matter goes beyond his authority, given its ongoing consideration by the state Ministry of Justice.

Efforts to reach the spokesperson of the Oyo State Police Command, SP Adewale Osifeso, for further details were unsuccessful, as he did not respond to telephone calls placed to him.
