Armed hoodlums have taken over some areas in Akinyele Local Government of Ibadan, Oyo State capital as the ethnic conflict between Yorubas and Hausas heightens.
The ethnic clash which started on Friday led to the death of at least one person in the area.
However, the Oyo state government released a statement saying that security operatives have been mobilised to the area to restore law and order.
Meanwhile, the State Government under the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde on Saturday ordered the immediate closure of Shasha market in the Local Government Area.
It also imposed an indefinite curfew on Shasha and the market area which runs from 6 pm to 7 am.
According to a statement signed by Taiwo Adisa, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Seyi Makinde, the government said the order was to forestall breakdown of law and order in the area.
