Idoma Hall of Fame maiden induction holds October 15 in Abuja

The maiden edition of the Idoma Hall of Fame (IHOF) Induction Ceremony is set to hold on Thursday, October 15, 2026, in Abuja, with distinguished sons and daughters of Idoma expected to be honoured for their contributions to the development and advancement of the people.

The historic ceremony is scheduled for 12 noon at Peach Vine Event Centre, Wuye, Abuja, as part of activities marking the Idoma Centenary Plus Celebration and in collaboration with the Idoma apex socio-cultural group, Ochetoha K’Idoma. 

The event is being organised by the Idoma Hall of Fame, a heritage institution established to document Idoma history, celebrate excellence and preserve the cultural legacy of the people.

Speaking on the significance of the maiden induction, the Founder and Executive Director of IHOF, Engr. Agaba Ikwue, FNSE, said the initiative was conceived to ensure that the contributions of exceptional Idoma personalities are properly documented and preserved for future generations.

Ikwue said the Hall of Fame would provide a permanent platform for celebrating individuals whose accomplishments and service have brought honour to Idoma land.

According to him, the induction is not merely an award ceremony but part of a broader effort to preserve the history, heritage and achievements of the Idoma people.

He said, “The Idoma Hall of Fame is about preserving our history and celebrating those who have distinguished themselves in their various fields of endeavour. We want future generations to know the men and women who contributed to the growth, development and identity of Idoma Nation.”

Ikwue added that the maiden edition would mark the beginning of an enduring institution that would continue to recognise excellence among Idoma people at home and in the diaspora.

He said the initiative was also designed to inspire younger generations by showcasing the achievements of individuals who had made significant contributions to society.

The Founder stressed that the Hall of Fame would focus on individuals whose records of service, professional excellence, leadership, philanthropy and contributions to society reflect positively on the Idoma identity.

The induction ceremony will also form part of the activities celebrating the Idoma Centenary Plus, providing an opportunity to reflect on the history and achievements of the people while projecting their aspirations for the future.

The Advisory Board of the Idoma Hall of Fame is chaired by Hon. Justice Ejembi Eko, JSC (Rtd.), while other members include prominent Idoma professionals and leaders.

The Central Planning Committee for the maiden induction is chaired by Chief Paul Harris Ogbole, SAN.

The October 15 ceremony is expected to bring together traditional rulers, political leaders, professionals, academics, business leaders, cultural advocates and other prominent members of the Idoma community.
