Idoma Hall of Fame: Obla, Abounu, Ogbole, Edeh, others shower millions on Idoma first-class graduates

Prominent Idoma personalities, including legal luminary Chief Godwin Obla (SAN), former Deputy Governor of Benue State, Engr. Benson Abounu, Benue State FA Chairman, Barrister Paul Ede, and Paul Harris Ogbole (SAN), have rewarded two first-class Idoma graduates for their outstanding academic achievements.

The beneficiaries, Ochanya Owoicho Sandra, a first-class Law graduate, and Yaro Suleman Bawa, a first-class Engineering graduate from the University of Ilorin, received various cash gifts and scholarship pledges on Thursday during the Inaugural Dinner of the Idoma Hall of Fame Advisory Board held in Abuja.

Speaking at the event, Chief Obla said he was particularly proud of the duo for making the Idoma nation proud through their academic excellence. 

He recalled that the Idoma Lawyers Association had earlier awarded an overseas scholarship and a ₦5 million cash prize to Ochanya in recognition of her achievements.

Obla also pledged a $10,000 annual scholarship grant to Bawa to support his postgraduate studies abroad until the completion of his master’s degree.

Similarly, Engr. Benson Abounu pledged ₦1 million in support of Bawa’s studies overseas. 

On his part, Barrister Paul Edeh placed both Ochanya and Bawa on a monthly stipend for one year.

Also, Paul Harris Ogbole (SAN) announced an additional monthly stipend for Bawa and Ochanya for one year, commending their brilliance and humility.

Speaking after receiving the rewards, Ochanya and Bawa expressed profound gratitude to the donors for their generosity and encouragement. They also thanked the organisers of the Idoma Hall of Fame for providing a platform to recognise and celebrate young achievers from the Idoma nation.

The event was attended by top Idoma leaders, professionals, and dignitaries who described the gesture as a practical demonstration of the community’s renewed commitment to education and youth development.
