Idoma students honour Sen. Abba Moro in Abuja

The National Association of Idoma Students (NAIS), which is the umbrella body of Idoma students in higher institutions across Nigeria, University of Abuja chapter, on Wednesday, presented an Award of Excellence to the Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District, Comrade Abba Moro, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the advancement of home/national developments and humanity.
NAIS University of Abuja chapter, under the leadership of Oloche Dan (President) and Ladi Patrick (Ochanya) as well as Sani Mohammed, the Director of Welfare, were all at the Senator’s office to present the award to him.
Speaking during the award presentation, the leader of the delegation and President of the association, Oloche Dan, described Senator Moro as
the Pride of Idoma nation.
He enthusiastically recalled how the Lawmaker gave employment opportunities to Idoma youths while serving as Minister of Interior.
The Student Leader also recalled how Comrade Moro, as a lecturer in the Benue State Polytechnic, Ugbokolo, facilitated the admission of many Idoma youths into various higher institutions in the country.
“You are the Pride of Idoma Nation. One cannot forget easily your tremendous feats as the Minister of Interior; how you helped our sons and daughters to gain employments into various paramilitary services.
“Of course, your achievements as a lecturer in Benue State Polytechnic can’t easily be forgotten. This award is presented to you in recognition of your outstanding services to humanity and to tell you that we are proud of you,” he said amid cheers.
In his response, the Senator thanked the leadership of NAIS UNIABUJA chapter for the honour.
He saluted the national body of the association and Nigerian students in general for the vital roles they played before, during and after his election, he promised he would always stand by them.
His words, “I am working with my colleagues from Benue state in the National Assembly to engender level of respect and unity among all ethnic groups in the State.
“With time, I will raise scholarship in our Zone for students. Anyone who wants to go school must go to school by God’s grace.
“For now, I am working on legal institutional framework for upgrading of education in our Zone and the University of Health Sciences in Otukpo, which HE, Senator David Mark initiated, is one of it.
“I am always with you (Students), the fact that I am now a Lawmaker does not erase the fact that I was a Teacher. Thank you for this great honour, I assure you of my support at all times.”
