Ten years ago Idoma Voice (Online) was birthed after much research, consultations and adequate preparations with the sole aim of giving voice to the voiceless, raking news from village corners and across cities.
Guided by the mantra, “in search of truth and freedom,” Idoma Voice is driven by the desire to catalyse development in Idomaland through effective, developmental journalism.
We set a standard that is foolproof to compromise or political manipulation and had pursued our goal using the human interest periscope.
And in all our operations, we had remained steadfast in our pledge to be the voice of the people, to search for truth and freedom, and never to be swayed by favour or fortune in this noble pursuit. What have our eyes on we promised, then and now––accurate reportage and coverage to inform, educate, enlighten and entertain. We have not deviated from our solemn pledge in our decade of existence as a media entity.
Ten years is a milestone. It is a time of reflection over our progression in the business of journalism: time to look back at the good and the bad times; time to look ahead, to live our dreams together with our staff and our readers from all over the world.
We came on board when Internet journalism was little or of no interest, and we can say with a sense of modesty that we have made remarkable marks with our accurate reportage and community development.
We have also expanded. In 10 years, we have created other platforms such as Idoma TV, Idoma Voice (newspaper), Nigerian Tabloid, Vego Media and Idoma Voice Special (magazine).
Our stories have been syndicated and discussed on national and international media. We have become a household name in Benue State and Nigeria in general.
We have received commendations from many readers across the globe to keep up with the good works. And our readership has expanded
exponentially in ten years. Today, we record an average of 100,000 daily visitors on our website and our social media is followed by thousands of fans.
We have also successfully dabbled in events. In this wise, we have organized and sponsored football competitions in Owukpa in honour of our late founding editor, where winners going home with cash and laurels.
We have also had a sad moment when we lost our founding editor, Prince Ameh Jerry, barely six years into our operation. It was a sad moment for the staff and management of the industry, but against all odds, we came out stronger.
We couldn’t have come this far without our readers and followers on Twitter, Facebook and Youtube. Our decade of existence was made possible because you all stood by us. We hope to continue this partnership.
We also owe a debt of thanks to our sponsors and partners: Raw Gold, FreeImage, Idoma Carnival, Door2Door, DIGC, T. Pumpy, Ado Local Government, Otukpo Local Government, Zagnas Suites, Events By Naomee, Ambassador’s Resort and Garden, Peace Corps, Jiji.ng, and others we have served via Google AdSense.
Similarly, we express our gratitude to all Idoma Voice writers who contributed in one way or the other towards the growth of our news site.
Here is our heartfelt; Thank you to everyone. We urge you to keep faith with us as we continue the journey towards the next milestone. We promise to continue to serve you great contents that will serve your daily need for information, education and entertainment.
