The Chief Whip of the Nigerian Senate and lawmaker representing Borno South, Senator Ali Ndume, has accused some aides of President Bola Tinubu of demanding bribes before granting access to the president.

Speaking during an interview with Arise Television, Ndume alleged that it has become “almost impossible” to meet the president without paying certain individuals working within the Presidential Villa.

According to him, the administration is being run by “kakistocrats” — a term used to describe a government led by the least qualified or most corrupt officials.

“I don’t have the chance to see the president. The only time I get to see him is when he’s attending a public event,” Ndume said.

“This is how they are running the government. I’m telling you, they don’t have the right people there. The government is dominated by kakistocrats. If you want to see the president, they will ask you how much.”

The senator further disclosed that he had previously written to request a meeting with the president to discuss financial matters but was repeatedly frustrated by intermediaries.

“I wrote to them that I wanted to see the president to discuss some financial issues, but they kept playing games as if they were in control of access to heaven,” he added.
