IGP Egbetokun decorates six new DIGs, one AIG

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun has decorated six newly appointed Deputy Inspectors-General (DIGs) and one Assistant Inspector-General (AIG) of Police.

According to force spokesman Muyiwa Adejobi, the new appointments bring a wealth of experience from various commands and departments within the Nigeria Police Force.

The newly appointed DIGs are Sadiq Idiris Abubakar, former Commandant of the Police Academy in Wudil, Kano; Benjamin Nebolisa Okolo, former AIG of the Department of Information Communication Technology at the Force Headquarters; Williams Adebowale, former Commandant of the Police Staff College in Jos; Bzigu Yakubu Kwazi Bali, former AIG of the FCID Annex in Enugu; Idegwu Basil Ukuoma, former AIG of Zone 14 in Katsina; and Adebola Ayinde Hamzat, former AIG of Zone 16 in Yenagoa.

Additionally, Kanayo Uzuegbu, who previously served as the Commissioner of Police in the Enugu State Command, was decorated as an Assistant Inspector-General.

The ceremony, held on March 6, 2025, came shortly after the honorable retirement on March 3, 2025, of six veteran DIGs who served the force for 35 years.

IGP Egbetokun congratulated the newly promoted officers and urged them to uphold the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and service.

He emphasized the importance of inspiring confidence both within the force and among the citizens they protect, expressing full confidence in their ability to contribute to the continued progress and effectiveness of the Nigeria Police Force.
