Iheanacho’s Sevilla struggles: Finidi George calls for immediate transfer

Former Super Eagles coach Finidi George has advised Nigerian international Kelechi Iheanacho to leave Sevilla FC, citing poor treatment of the player at the Spanish La Liga club.
Iheanacho, who joined Sevilla on a two-year deal last August after leaving Leicester City, has struggled for game time, featuring in only nine league matches and accumulating just 401 minutes out of a possible 1,800.
Despite scoring three goals in two Copa del Rey matches, the 28-year-old could not prevent Sevilla’s elimination in the round of 32.
Recently omitted from Sevilla’s matchday squads against Girona and Valencia, and left on the bench in a 4-2 loss to Real Madrid, Iheanacho’s situation appears increasingly bleak, particularly with Sevilla signing Antony from Manchester United earlier this week.
Speaking to Africa Foot, Rivers United coach Finidi George urged Iheanacho to seek a move away from the Andalusian club.
“I think they have disrespected him in many ways,” Finidi told Africa Foot.
“They expected a lot from him when he arrived, but it’s still early days, and he hasn’t been given enough time to settle in. In my opinion, he should leave the club if any good offers come along.
“He is 28 and still has a lot to offer, but he needs to be at a place where he is truly appreciated. Returning to England would be a great option, but he could also explore opportunities in new environments.”
While Iheanacho is still striving to make an impact in Spain, his compatriot Chidera Ejuke—also a summer signing on a free transfer—has quickly become a key player under Garcia Pimienta.
Reports indicate that several English clubs, including West Ham and Watford, are interested in signing Iheanacho, sparking hopes of a potential Premier League return for the Super Eagles striker.
