Benue South Senator and Senate Minority Leader, Abba Moro, has threatened to mobilise his constituents against the re-election bid of Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, if what he described as the continued marginalisation of Benue South persists.

Moro made the remarks during an interview on The Conversation, a programme monitored on IDOMA Television, where he accused the governor of neglecting the Benue South Senatorial District, particularly in the area of infrastructure.

According to him, Governor Alia is yet to visit communities in Benue South attacked by suspected Fulani herdsmen, where scores of persons were reportedly killed, while frequently visiting areas in Tiv land.

“I think that Governor Alia has been corrupted absolutely by power and has decided to turn his back on the people who assisted him in the beginning to give his government a firm foundation,” Moro said.

“Looking at two years in office and discovering that Governor Alia has not done anything for the people of the Benue South Senatorial District, I had to rise to the occasion to let him know that we are also part of Benue State.

“He has been doing things in some other places, at least as reported in newspapers, and nothing of that nature has happened in Benue South. Governor Alia cannot point to any specific project that he has started and completed in Benue South.”

The senator warned that if the situation continues, he would mobilize his people against the governor’s re-election.

“If it continues like this, I will mobilize my people against his re-election. That is straightforward. As a leader, one day you will think about handing over the baton of leadership,” he added.
