Illegal Tax Activity: Magistrate isuues warrant of arrest for 5 persons in Benue

A magistrate court sitting in makurdi has issued a Warrants of Arrests for 5 persons for allegedly jumping bail and issued hearing notices to 18 othes who hav failed to appear before the court.

The said persons were arraigned beforethe Chief Magistrate Court 1 in makurdi over vaious tax related offences ranging from operationg illegal tax points and fraud.

Already Magistrate Court 1 is known to house 23 case files and 18 suspects.

It is worthy of mention that over 187culprits have been arreed and charged to various courts for tax related offences een as 20 have been convicted and the others awaiting trial.

Meanwhile the Executive Chairman,  Benue State Internal Revenue Service (BIRS), Mr. Andrew Ayabam has cautioned aainst the mountng and operation of illega tax points in the state.

The chairman who has vowed to ensure allillegal tax activity inthe state is completely eradicated has also called on people of the state to report any illegal tax activity in the state.
