Ilorin: Property worth N19m lost in fire outbreak

A devastated fire outbreak havoc in Ilorin on Tuesday evening, resulting in the destruction of property valued at over N19 million.

The blaze erupted at Zion Overcomer, located opposite Duro Suleiman’s house on University of Ilorin Road, within the Ilorin South Local Government Area. The emergency, reported at approximately 17:50 hours, was successfully contained by the prompt response and effectiveness of the firefighters, preventing its spread to adjacent facilities.

Seven shops fell victim to the flames, as revealed by Hassan Adekunle, the spokesperson for the state Fire Service. Fortunately, there were no reported casualties, and the fire’s origin was attributed to a power surge.

Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, the Director of Kwara State Fire Service, emphasized the importance of public safety, particularly during the current period. He urged the general public to exercise caution and promptly contact the fire brigade in the event of emergencies in their respective areas.
