Former Governor of Benue State, Chief Samuel Ortom, has refuted rumors that he intends to seek any political position in the 2027 general elections.

The clarification came on Saturday through a statement released in Makurdi by his media aide, Dr. Terver Akase.

Speculation had been circulating on social media suggesting that Ortom might contest the Benue North-West Senatorial seat in the upcoming elections, according to reports by the News Agency of Nigeria.

Responding to these claims, Ortom stated, “I have no intention whatsoever to contest any elective office in 2027. I have said this clearly, publicly, and repeatedly.

“I expect that a position stated this plainly would not require translation or creative reinterpretation.”

He emphasized that his current focus is on advancing democratic principles, strengthening the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and offering leadership guidance, rather than pursuing any elective role.

Ortom also urged Nigerians to ignore the circulating reports, dismissing them as “a fabrication.”
