I’m not using Makurdi Cargo Airport project to steal money – Ortom cries out

The leadership of the All Progressives Congress in Benue State has debunked the media speculations that the state governor was using the Makurdi Cargo Airport project to pocket some millions.

The party in a statement by its Acting Director of Media and Publicity, Berger Alfred Emberga said the story was orchestrated by members of the opposition media team to rubbish the efforts of the governor.

The party warned the general public to discard the rumour and support the governor in his quest to make Benue State a better place for all.
Members of the public may recall that I alerted them last week about a plan of the opposition media in Benue State to smear top officials of the popularly elected government in the state.
This renewed campaign that has commenced with videos to disparage the government on the flag off of the Makurdi Cargo Airport is part of a plan to once again divert attention from the pursuit of the looters of the N107 billion.
The loot was established by a Judicial Commission of Inquiry recognized by law and which the chairman of the group of 52 and former governor of the state sought unsuccessfully to stop from carrying out its assignment.
Another phase of the campaign is to take pictures of buildings and attribute ownership to public officials and members of the first family in order to create the impression that they were as corrupt and materialistic like those in the immediate past administration.
We wish to inform the public that the police and the anti-graft agencies have prepared charges against the looters and would take them to court any moment, hence the resort to the current campaign.
The All Progressives Congress, APC, wishes to inform the good people of Benue State that no amount of calumny will stop the Ortom administration from pursuing the looters to a logical conclusion.
We therefore, call on Benue people to reject the renewed smear campaign being carried out by this group of desperate, greedy and merciless looters with their supporters who know nothing about the aviation industry and economic matters but pose as experts on government projects in the sector.
For the information of all, the Makurdi Cargo Airport Project is a private sector initiative with Benue State Government committing no kobo on it and has no business awarding contract for its construction.
All it has done is to create an enabling environment for the investors by helping them to secure land for which they will also pay compensation.
The benefits of the project will be massive to the people of the state and beyond.
Those criticizing the project are mostly diehard supporters and beneficiaries of the old order of lootocracy who must be rejected by all well-meaning people of the state.
