Popular Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar has opened up about her ongoing health struggles amid financial difficulties.
In a heartfelt Instagram post on Tuesday, Abubakar lamented that despite being ill for a long time, many people continue to doubt her condition.
She explained that although she tries to stay strong, her illness has significantly impacted her life. According to her, people assume she is fine because she posts pictures online, but in reality, she is suffering.
“People are confused about what’s happening. I’m still unwell, but I’m good at acting strong. I pretend to be okay,” she said.
“This is the real me because every day, you see filtered pictures on TikTok, but this is what I truly look like. How could anyone say I’m lying about being sick? I go to a Turkish hospital, one of the biggest in Nigeria, yet they still don’t believe me.”
The actress also expressed frustration over feeling abandoned by the Nollywood industry and betrayed by close friends.
“You sacked me from Nollywood, but why the betrayal? Only a mad person would lie about being sick. They said I was never ill, that I was faking it. I was in the village for over a year.
“I recently moved back because of the hospital where I go for check-ups. I’m done with them now, and medically, I’ve been cleared.”
Abubakar revealed that her health struggles have prevented her from acting for over six years. She questioned why people are treating her harshly and wondered if they wanted her to completely give up.
“My own best friend said I’m lying to the public, yet we don’t even live in the same place. You never visited me once,” she added.
