The Imo State House of Assembly has suspended four members over an alleged plot to impeach the Speaker, Chike Olemgbe. Speaker Olemgbe disclosed this development on Tuesday.
The suspended lawmakers are Samuel Otuibe (Ahiazu-Mbaise), Henry Agbasonu (Ezinihitte-Mbaise), Chidiebere Ogbunikpa (Okigwe), and Dominic Ezerioha (Oru-West).
According to the Speaker, the decision to suspend these members was made during an executive session. Additionally, all standing committee assignments of the suspended members have been revoked.
During the plenary, as reported by Punch, the Speaker announced minor reshuffling of the standing committees.
Some of the suspended members present at the announcement declined to speak to the media.
