IN CASE YOU MISSED: Wilson Inalegwu now Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State

The new Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State, Mr Wilson Inalegwu, has declared zero tolerance for criminals operating in the state asking them to leave or be ready to face the wrath of the law.

The Police Commissioner stated this in his maiden interaction with the newsmen in Ado-Ekiti, Inalegwu said the Police Act conferred the statutory duty of enforcement of all laws on the police and that the command will be guided by the law of the federation in enforcing the ‘Ekiti State Prohibition of Cattle and other Ruminants Grazing Act 2016’.

Disturbed by the activities of criminal gang called ‘yahoo boys’ and ‘Indian hemp peddlers’ in the State, the CP said his men will make the state uncomfortable for these evil doers, for the society to be free of criminals to attract investors.

The law was enacted by Governor Ayodele Fayose’s administration to checkmate the activities of rampaging herdsmen, who daily destroyed farmlands in the state.
The CP said: “We shall be guided by the law in enforcing anti-grazing law. The Police Act 1990 gives us the power to enforce all laws and this we shall apply in this regard”.
He said that the command will partner with the state government in enforcing the newly enacted anti-grazing law within the ambit of the law.
“We are going to study the law, look at the provisions in line with what the constitution says. We will also look at the powers of the police to know what to do under this circumstance,” Inalegwu said.
