INEC presents Certificate of Return to Moro, Suswam, Jev

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) presented Certificates of Return to successful candidates in the National Assembly elections on Thursday 14 March, 2019 at the International Conference Centre in Abuja.

Three Senators-elect and eleven House of Representatives members-elect from Benue State also also received their Certificates of Return.

During the presentation ceremony, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC said it will urgently begin work on post 2019 elections review and road map to the 2023 general elections stating that there is a lot of work to be done but very little time available.

As a process governed by law, the commission noted that the success of election in the country depends to a large extent on the electoral legal framework and most importantly in ensuring adherence to the law.

In his opening remarks at the presentation of the certificates, the INEC chairman professor Mahmud Yakubu pledged a harmonious working relationship with the national assembly to achieve the goal.

Prof Yakubu assured that he would continue to work with the national assembly to review and strengthen the electoral laws of the country to continually improve on Nigerian Democratic structures.

Senator-elects for the Benue North West Senatorial District Rt Hon Emmanuel Yisa Orker Jev in a statement after the exercise dedicated his victory to God and thanked the people of Zone B and the entire people of the state for standing by him.

Orker Jev reiterated that the mandate is that of the people who have sent him to the Senate and he was only holding it in trust.

The lawmaker who said he has a fair idea of the yearnings and aspirations of his people pledged to always keep the trust in him sacred and to work assiduously for the betterment of his people.
