Council Executive Chairman for Ado Local Government Area of Benue State, James Oche has appreciated the Executive Governor of Benue State, Dr. Samuel Ortom and His Deputy, Benson Abounu as well as the entire State Executive Council for the concern accorded his local government in terms of infrastructural development and tackling of insecurity. Oche has also said more needs to be done to revamp the economic welfare of the Ado people.
Oche who stated this last week in Igumale when he played host to the Inspection Committee on Collation and Documentation of State Government Projects led by the Project Coordinator, James Uloko maintained that, the state government currently has mobilized to site, contractors to handle the Trunk B road that runs through Ado Local Government and said work was satisfactorily underway.
He also stated that, the Local Government has been receiving commendable support from the State in the Area of security by taking steps to resolve the boundary crisis and sending troops of the Operation Whirlstroke, Operation Puff Adder, Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) coupled with the presence of the proactive DPO Bulama Usman and Commander Mohammed Mubarak who have combated crime in the area to barest minimum.
Oche however lamented that, the economic and social life of more than half of the Ado people had been technically and unknowingly ceded to Ebonyi State due to decaying infrastructure that had severed some of the big communities from the rest of Ado. Particularly, he lamented that, the River Ado Bridge in Ijigban linking Nwedoga that was constructed by Mrs. Eyantu Ifene during the Ishaya Bakut Military administration of the State and links some of the largest markets at Ndobasi Boarder Community with Ebonyi State had collapsed 22 years ago and the people now traded with Ebonyi.
Also, Oche said, the Ado Bridge at Ijigban linking the second largest market in Ado, the Inikiri Market in Ulayi District also a boarder community with Ebonyi State built by Hon. Otokpa Unogwu in 1997/1998 also had collapse thereby severing the people from Ado. He said the construction of these bridges would mean so much to the economic welfare of Ado and pleaded with the State Government to intervene.
Oche who further stressed on the need for a Primary Health Care Facility at Akpoge Ogbilolo and Ekile Wards said the gesture will in no small measure advance the health and wellbeing of the people, hence the current ones were in a deplorable state with no medical facilities.
He said, while his administration was committed to doing the best for the people, he noted that, the supportive hand of the State Government would play a critical role in alleviating the hardship of the people and lessening the burden on his administration’s shoulders.
Reacting on behalf of the team, Hon. James Uloko expressed satisfaction with Oche’s efforts and determination to reposition Ado and further expressed the Governor’s readiness to bring state presence in every local government of the state. He said, the mandate of his committee was to give reportage to the State Government’s efforts in all LGAs with a view of highlighting the LGAs with pressing concerns in order to present them to appropriate authorities for consideration.
The Zone C Inspection Committee has on its team Hon James Uloko, Special Adviser to the Governor on Information and Culture as Team Leader, James Ochoga as Secretary, Mr. Tarkighir as Project Manager, Olikita Ekani as Social Media Representative and King Oche as official photographer.
