Uduak Frank Akpan, the suspected killer of a job seeker, Iniubong Umoren, has narrated how he killed his victim.
According to the suspect who spoke during a session on Facebook Live while he was being paraded by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command, he killed the girl in self defense and not intentionally.
He was paraded alongside his father to dismiss rumor of his death in custody.
He said: “I asked her whether she could work in a farm where hard drugs were kept; she said she could.
“I asked her that I would like to have sex with her before she left. She agreed and gave a condition that I would have to use condom, which I did.
“While I removed the condom, she became furious and removed the nearby stabilizer to hit me on the head… While I was bleeding, in other to stop her, I used the stabilizer to hit her. When I hit her, she fell.”
Uduak, who claimed he hit the victim with a pressing iron, also atmitted at a point that five other ladies had suffered a similar fate in his hands, although none died.
In his own account, Uduak’s father claimed he was not aware of his son’s criminal activities until he was invited to Uran Police Station.
“I wasn’t aware, I’m not happy about it,” he said. “I was asked to call him and I called him back. When he arrived, I was allowed to interact with him. He told me he did something wrong and that he was sorry. I blamed him: ‘Why did you do this? You are not my only child; I have two other children and they are women. If anybody does this to your sisters would you be happy?’ He said no.”
Addressing journalists during the event, Andrew Amiengheme, Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police, debunked claims that there were shallow graves and bones at the crime scene.
“There are no shallow graves anywhere; there are no bones anywhere,” he said. “That is the truth. But if anybody can show me any shallow grave there, go and show me. But I know there are no shallow graves.”
Also, the state commissioner of police, said it was necessary to have the press conference because of the rumour that was going around in the media that the suspect had committed suicide in the cell.
“I don’t know anywhere in the world that a suspect will be allowed to use trousers in the cell to the extent of killing himself with it.
“Social media that is supposed to be a tool that will work to the advantage of the police has become something that is working against them,” he said.
