Insecurity: Stakeholders meet to review ban on social gatherings in Benue community

In line with Gboko LG Council decision on the ban of social gatherings, the Local Government Chairman Chief Isaac Mtom has met with heads of security Agencies within the local government to review measures necessary to maintain peace, order and stability in Gboko.

The council Chairman while addressing pressmen after the closed door meeting stressed that the recent Executive Order issued by the council was necessary to curtail the rising issues of insecurity within the local government. The council boss disclosed that the following resolutions were arrived at:
1. The Executive Order issued still stands and will be enforced from Monday 19th December, 2022.

2. The Ban still stands on all political rallies and outdoor activities without crowd control. However, exemptions of other social gatherings MUST obtain an approval first from the office of the Executive Chairman and a Security clearance from the Gboko Area Command office of Nigerian Police.

3. Security Agencies will from Monday, December 19th, 2022 enforce the Order and any person or group who fails to comply by the order will be made to face the law.

4. Total raid of criminals to begin with immediate effect

In conclusion, the chairman assured that all modalities will be put in place to ensure a safe and peaceful yuletide and campaigns as he will also be meeting with stakeholders of all the political parties to discuss the need to ensure peaceful electioneering for the good of the people of Gboko.

Hon. Mtom appreciated the efforts of the security agencies so far in curtailing the recent armed attacks and called on all well meaning people to shun sentiments and join hands to ensure a safe and secured Gboko.
