Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun has instructed the withdrawal of all police officers assigned to former Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello, according to a police wireless message obtained by The Nation.
The document, identified by reference number “CB:4001/DOPS/PMF/FHQ/ABJ/VOL.48/34,” states: “IG has ordered the withdrawal of all policemen attached to His Excellency and former Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.
“Kindly confirm compliance and handle with utmost importance. Please, acknowledge receipt for your records and strict adherence.”
Furthermore, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has placed Bello on its watchlist after his evasion of arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in connection with alleged financial misconduct amounting to N80 billion.
This notice follows shortly after the EFCC declared the former Governor as wanted. Bello faces allegations of corruption during his tenure as Kogi Governor.
