Following his appointment, Dr. Charles Iornumbe, on Tuesday, 2nd November, 2021, assumed duty as the Director-General Radio Benue Corporation. He succeeds Espie Ushe-Uba.
Dr. Iornumbe, expressed determination to improve on the content and quality of the station’s programmes.
The new Director-General, who met with management staff of the corporation said his target was to ensure that the station reaches wider audience and promised to encourage staff to carry out special reports to ensure that Government was aware of the challenges people were passing through at the grassroots.
He promised to ensure that staff of the corporation keep to the professional ethics towards ensuring balance and objectivity in reporting and assured of training and retraining of staff at the Radio Nigeria Broadcast Academy in Lagos to improve on their knowledge.
Dr. Iornumbe said he would encourage team spirit and discourage anything that would promote sectionalism and ethnicity, adding that any staff found wanting would be sanctioned to serve as deterrent to others.
He also promised to encourage management staff of the station to put in more efforts for the growth of the Corporation and thanked them for the warm reception accorded him.
The erstwhile Benue People’s House correspondent expressed hope that Governor Samuel Ortom would soon procure a transmitter and equipment to boost the Station’s coverage.
He appreciated the Governor for finding him worthy to serve the state in that capacity and promised not to betray the confidence reposed in him.
Dr. Iornumbe also promised to improve on the internally generated revenue and block all leakages to stale the overdependence on government for funds.
Responding on behalf of Management Staff, Director News and Current Affairs, Mr. Igba Ogbole, stated that they were excited over the appointment of Dr Iornumbe as the Director-General of Radio Benue and noted that change was the only constant thing in life and that each time there was change, it brings new hope for better things.
He expressed confidence in the capacity of the new DG to handle the affairs of Radio Benue in a manner that would be pleasing to Benue people.
Mr. Ogbole assured Dr Iornumbe that they would work with him sincerely for the collective success of his administration and commended Governor Ortom for appointing one of Radio Benue Staff as the new Director-General.
